Kelly DeRango Qualifications and Compensation
In 1999 I earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and in 1992 I earned an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have taught statistics to graduate students at the University of Michigan Business School and was an adjunct professor of Political Economy at Michigan State University where I taught both statistics and economics. I was employed for 8 years at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research as a Research Fellow, conducting evaluations of programs related to the labor market, including an evaluation of Governor Granholm’s JET welfare reform initiative. I have recently been employed as a visiting professor of economics at Kalamazoo College, an adjunct professor at Western Michigan University and am the president of DeRango & Associates, LLC.
I have extensive experience as a health care economist. I am currently an adjunct scientist at the Institute for Work and Health in Toronto. There I am currently part of a team reviewing the medical literature on the effectiveness of various depression treatments on work-related outcomes. I have consulted as an economist on a four year field study of a workplace ergonomic intervention. Recently I finished an evaluation of the net benefits of mammograms for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and am currently working with a team of optometrists to evaluate the health and productivity impacts of specialized computer lenses in the workplace. The University Health Network in Toronto, Canada has retained me to evaluate their tele-medicine program.

Billing
I charge $250 an hour and ask for a $1000 retainer at the onset of the case. I typically do not bill more than 10 hours per case but do reserve the right to bill more than 10 hours as circumstances merit. For more information please see my rate sheet tab.
